YFA Recommends – YMCK by YFA
This week we have good ol’ 8-bit music that is reminiscent of Nintendo days!
All of YMCK’s work is 8-bit music + vocals. They have their 8-bit plugin available for free in AU or VST format here.

This week’s recommendation is a band which I think has a very unique sound – I think the best description is “indie rock with a flair of jazz” (so this may be straight up teewee’s alley :P)
I really can’t pick out a specific work that is very representative of them, so here are three songs that are somewhat different in style, yet the same genre…
The Reign of Kindo – Let it Go
The Reign of Kindo – Just Wait
The Reign of Kindo – Breathe Again
Oh and I think they’re a Christian band too (but maybe doing mainstream style music).
Leave some comments as to what genre you think they should be classified as…
YFA Recommends – Jon Schmidt by YFA
This week’s pick definitely comes as a surprise – super uplifting piano music by Jon Schmidt!
I came across him in a completely random incident… so I am leading worship this Sunday and doing a “Viva la vida” arrangement of “Come, Now is the Time to Worship”, and a girl on my team said there’s this really cool Coldplay/Taylor Swift remix of the song, I should check it out… so lo and behold this is the amazingness that I find…
He has a website here, with more of his piano stuff… some free mp3s and free PDF sheet music too! weeee….

A tad late posting this week since I was all caught up with… “The Real Deal” :P.
This week’s pick is Sonicflood’s new Christmas song “When Love First Cried”:
Pretty good new Christmas song, I was thinking of doing an a capella arrangement for it for my a capella group, maybe next year… and once I figure out how to use Logic’s score editor…

Third week of song recommendations – this week’s pick is my favorite “worship song discovery” for 2010 (looking for new songs to lead next year). This song is a little obscure – definitely not very popular right now, but I think its an amazing song.
I can’t find the lyrics/chords for the song online, and I can only find a live recording of the song at a worship conference, and it only has verse 2, but here it is: Eddie Kirkland – Forever Changed
An album release of the song can be found on the North Point Live 3 Awake CD. (North Point is a church in Atlanta… Steve Fee’s church)
Since I can’t find chords for the song I guess ultimately I’ll have to tab it out myself… so I may as well start with the lyrics, and you guys can double check for me 😉
Verse 1:
I have built with my hands all the walls that hold me in,
I have wandered my way in the desert.
I have struggled against all the blessings you have sent,
and I am back to the place of surrender.
Pre-Chorus:
Lord You meet me here in my darkest hour
And You stirred my heart with Your love
Chorus:
Forever, I am changed by mercy
Forever my heart is alive
Forever, I am Yours my Savior
Forever my hope is Christ
Verse 2:
Tears are sweet as they fall, mercy rushes through my soul
Bowing low as you wash me with healing.
Lord, you’ve sealed me with grace
Life eternally sustained, by the hope in my soul You’re revealing
Bridge:
The power of sin is broken I have been set free
For I have died and Jesus is alive in me
